Chapter 3!

It had been a week sence Kagome was taken, she would sit with Naraku at the last meal and tell him everything she could think of about her world. He always seemed like he didnt care. But she knew he was very interested. After the meal he would walk her back to her room and the day would start over. The week went by the same, nothing changed, he wouldn't tell her anything actually he barley said anything to her. Only asked her questions.

It was the eighth day she had been there when somthing happened.  Kagome was in the room Naraku gave her and she was sitting at the table with a book. It was written in old Japanese, that she couldnt read very well. She was mostly just looking at the pictures. It was a manuskript of prior lords and ladies of the north.

There was a man that looked like Naraku except his eyes were not red like Naraku's and his hair wasnt as long as Naraku's. Where Naraku's hair went to his lower back this mans hair only went to his shoulder blades.

There was also a female that caught Kagomes eye she had silver hair and the cresent moon on her forhead, like Inuyasha's brother Sesshomaru. She was very beautiful. She had a pink Kimono with red flowers on the sleeves that
flowed past her fingers. Kagome couldnt get over how much this woman looked like Sesshomaru. She thought, 'I wonder if Naraku knows?'

Just as the thought crossed her mind she saw a shadow of a tall man come across the table. She looked up and Naraku was sitting across from her in the empty chair.

"Find anything interesting?" He asked.

"Umm...yes. I was looking at all the past lords and ladies of the north. I was wondering though, do you know who this is?" She asked as she pointed to the lady she had found in the book.

"I do." He nodded.

She looked at him and saw he had a hurt look on his face, but then it was quickly replaced with the emotionless face. Much like Sesshomaru's. In fact there was alot of things about Naraku that reminded her of Inuyasha's brother. He never showed emotion, he talked as little as possible and he hated Inuyasha. Why she was never told, she assumed it was probably over some girl. Nobody ever told her why they were fighting Naraku she just trusted Inuyasha and Sango so she assumed it was important.

"Who is she?" Kagome asked.

Naraku looked back to the picture and reached over to the book. He touched the photo of the woman then began, "Over 200 years ago, my father fell in love with a woman that was already mated to another. She was in love with him as well. The only problem they kept running into was her mate refused to break the bond. They would see eachother in secret but when she became pregnant he was forced to tell her mate. She was sentenced to inprisonment for being a traitor to the Lord of the west. She was only able to live long enough to have the child she bared then she would be killed." Kagome gasped. He removed his hand from the picture and continued,

"After I was born, my father took me and went back to the north. When my grandfather became ill, my father took over the rule. He soon forgot about the lord of the west and everything that happened while he was living there. I however became curious as to the whereabouts of my birth mother so I asked around, the servents and cooks refused to tell me. Finally on my thirteenth birthday we got a message from the west. They were under seige and needed help from all the eligable warriors. I went to serve. You see the north and west were allies. My father didnt know that and when the partchment came that all who were able, were to report to the base on the edge of the west, he was furious. He told me I wasnt going. Me being so full with honor, went anyway."

Kagome closed the book with the pictures and sat back. He closed his eyes as he remembered the rest.

"When I got there the general had already been killed. The heir to the throne had taken over the charge. His name is Sesshomaru. Im sure you have heard of him?" Naraku said as he turned to look at her.

To say she was shocked would be an understatment. "You know Sesshomaru?" She asked.

"Yes, he is my half brother." Naraku said like it was no surprise.

Kagome was confused, "How could he be your...but that would make you...and that means she's..." Kagome stammered.

"Could you possibly complete a sentence dear." Naraku chuckled.

"If you and Sesshomaru are half brothers, does that mean the woman that your father loved, your mother is Sesshomaru's mother?" Kagome asked.

Naraku nodded.

"But then, would that mean Inuyasha is your brother too?" Kagome asked a little confused on how she hadnt figured this out.

"No." Naraku said standing up and walking towards the window. "Inuyasha's mother is  human, I believe her name was Izayoi. She was killed in a fire, that Inuyasha blaims me for."

Kagome finally realized why Naraku and Inuyasha were enemies. "So thats why Inuyasha hates you?" Kagome asked.

" He always said that I was mad because his father killed my mother. Which is true I was. But I didnt kill his mother to get back at him. I wasnt even there. I was on patrol around the northern border, when I saw smoke above the trees. I went to see if I could help. When I got there the cabin was already burned to the ground and everyone inside was dead, but I ran inside anyway. I found his mother asleep on the futon where the back room used to be. She looked fine to me just a few cutes and bruises. I carried her out and away from the fire. When I layed her in the grass by a pond I noticed she wasnt breathing. Inuyasha found me with her, he said that I set the house on fire."

Naraku looked toward Kagome and found her with tears running down her face. He went to her and kneeled down in front of her, "Why would I run in the house to get her out if I set the place on fire. I even got burned trying to save her. He wouldnt listen he was to filled with grief to even try. He ran off and I never heard from him again. Until resently when he came back swearing revenge."

Kagome was speachless at the story that Naraku had trusted her with, but some things were still not clear. "What I still dont understand is why would Miroku and Sango want to kill you, they have reasons dont they?" Kagome asked, as he stood and went to the other chair.

He took a deep breath and began, "That was an accident. I was on an assignment. My father told me to kill the bear demon that was scaring off all the humans in the eastern part of our Northern territory. I went to do as I was told and when I got there the bear demon was in a battle with a team of demon slayers. There was three men and one teen girl. The teen girl was badly hurt and the oldest man was trying to protect her. I tried helping the demon slayers but when they saw me coming, me being a demon they assumed the worst. They attacked me and when I tried to tell them I wasnt there to hurt them, they didnt listen. My inner demon had taken over and before I knew it I had killed the oldest man."

Kagome gasped, "Her father. You killed Sango's father?" She was a little scared and couldnt figure out why, its not like she didnt know he was evil. 'Except he isnt.' Her inner self said, 'He has been misunderstood.'

"I didnt mean to, but yes I did. I found out that it was her father when I took her and the other two men back to the demon slayer village. I had wounded the men but didnt kill them. When I returned them the village head master asked me what happened to the other. When I told him they..." He stopped and stood again. He walked to the door. "I better get some work done. I will come get you for last meal." He closed the door after he left and went to his study.

'Damn those stupid memories. Why do they still hurt?' He thought.

Kagome was confused, she didnt know why he hadnt finished but it must have been somthing serious. He never told her what happened with Miroku. She would have to get that out of him another day. After all she was going to be here a while. At least until she told him everything she knew about her world. Kagome went to the window and looked out across the garden. She never expected Naraku to have a garden in his castle. 'Guess you cant judge a book by its cover.' She thought.
