One true friend

Chapter 1

*My name is Kagome Higurashi, I'm 7 years old today, yep its my birthday. My

dad told me that he had a special surprise for me today. You see my dad

works for these guys that find weird animals and take them back to the labs

and find out exactly what they are. Well daddy said that when he was out on

an exibition he found a dog. Only it wasn't a regular dog. It is a big white

husky type dog, except he has stripes on his face and the weirdest thing, a

blue half moon. Weird huh? Anyway my daddy brought him home for me and

said I could keep him. I haven't decided on a name yet, I don't know how he

acts yet. I've only had him for a few hours. He's almost as big as my bed. I

have a single day bed and when he lays on it he almost covers the whole

thing. Daddy told me that he might get bigger and if he does then he has to

stay out in the barn. I don't think he will but who knows. My mommy got me

this journal so I could write down all my thoughts. I have alot of them

sometimes I ramble so ignore me if you want. Oh wait you can't.

I wonder how old my dog is, I mean is he a puppy or a dog. Maybe he's so old

that he's gonna die tomorrow that would be bad. I hope thats not it. Right now

he's laying on the floor next to my bed, I think he's asleep. Okay Im gonna go

know I have to feed him.*

Kagome left to go do her chores, as soon as she was out of the room the dog

got up on her bed and began to read the journal Kagome was just writing in.

~Oh crap, they think I'm a dog, well I am but they dont know I'm not only a dog.

Now what, this girl thinks I'm her pet. Maybe it wouldn't be to bad to be taken

care of for a while. Except what am I gonna do? Tonight is the full moon.~

The dog jumped down onto the floor when he heard Kagome coming up the

stairs.

"Hey you, how was your nap?" Kagome asked the dog as she pet him behind

his ears.

With a content growl he rolled over and went back to sleep.

Kagome was getting ready for bed when she noticed that she hasn't seen her

new dog since dinner.

"Where did he run off to?" She wondered out loud. "I wonder if he's in the

barn."

Kagome finished putting her PJ's on then went down stairs to get her shoes.

After she put her shoes and coat on she made her way to the barn.

In the barn layed a small child covered by the hay. He was shaking from the

cold and wet ground. Kagome noticed him as soon as she walked in.

"Oh my gosh." She gasped. She ran to him, grabbing the blanket that was

hanging on the door to her horses stall.

After covering the boy up she asked him, "are you alright?" Thats when she

really got a look at him. He was small but he looked to be about her age maybe

older. The reason he looked small was because he was covered by the hay.

He had long silver hair that went to his shoulders. What caught Kagome's

eyes the most were the distingushed marks on his face. They were the same

as her dogs. She pet the strip on his cheek. He looked like he was sleeping.

"Are you alright?" She asked again.

The boy sturred, and opened his eyes. Kagome gasped again for when he

opened his eyes he showed the beautiful golden depths he hid behind his

closed eyes.

"Are you okay?" Kagome asked nowing he heard her this time.

He didn't answer only nodded his head yes. He sat up and coverd his bottom

half better with the blanket.

"Why are you in my barn? And why don't you have clthes?" Kagome asked

blushing slightly at the mention of no clothing.

The boy thought on what to say for a minute then decided his human would

understand. "Do you promise not to scream?"

Kagome nodded her approval.

"I live here. With you and your family. As to why I have no clothes, you didn't

give me any when your father brought me to you."

Kagome didn't understand at first but when she thought about it somemore it

started to sink in.

"You mean to say you are my dog?" Kagome started to get up when a hand

covered hers.

"Please, do not be frightened." He said as he let go of her hand, when she

settled back down next to him he continued. "I am your dog. Only every full

moon I change into my human form. Its a burden I must bare. I can change to

my human form whenever I want, except for the nights when the full moon is

out. Im sorry to have mislead you its just I was scared when those men came

into my forest with the big guns and trucks. Your father took me and I thought

they would kill me if they new I was...well a demon." The boy dropped his

head he stared at his hand and thought she would think him crazy and run tell

her father everything. So you can imajine how surprised he was when she

said, "Okay."

"Okay?" He asked.

"Yeah. I belive you. I mean you can't make a story like that up. Plus you have

the same marks that my dog has." Kagome said petting the marks on his

cheek again. "What is your name? I still don't have one for you."

"Oh, umm...Sesshomaru."

"Well hello Sesshomaru." Kagome said happily as she offered him her hand

to shake. "Nice to meet you, I am Kagome."

"I know. Thank you."

"Umm... can I ask you something."

"Sure." Sesshomaru said giving her an 'Im a open book' look.

"Well its just, you look like your my age only I don't know exactly." Kagome

stuttered through not wanting to insult him.

He giggled, "It's okay. I am nearly 50 years old. But in human years you could

say I am the same as a child at age 9."

Kagome covered her face she was very embaressed. Not only did she see this

boy naked but he was flirting with her. "Okay I have school in the morning so I

got to go to sleep. What should I do for you?"

"I will be fine though I could us maybe a pair of pants at least." He smirked at

her.

Kagome blushed again, "Oh sure I'm sorry." She ran back into her house to

get him something to wear and when she returned, she did so with a pair of

jeans and a sweatshirt from her cousin Miroku's clothes he left from over the

summer. He was three years older then Kagome and she figured he and

Sesshomaru would be about the same size. She was right.

She stood facing the door with her back to him while he dressed.

"Okay." Sesshomaru said.

"You can't sleep out here, what do I do with you?" Kagome asked walking up

to him.

"It is fine I am used to it." Sesshomaru said as he made himself comfortable in

the hay.

"Will you be a dog again tomorrow?" Kagome asked shifting her foot against

the dirt.

"I will be able to change in the morning yes. However I will be in my human

form again tomorrow night for it is the last night of the full moon."

"Okay, if your hungry tomorrow just help your self cause nobody will be here

during the day." Kagome said before she turned and made her way into the

house.

Before she left the barn she heard, "goodnight Kagome."

She whispered back, "Goodnight." though she was pretty sure he couldn't

hear her. She was wrong.
